Sydney-based tenor Louis Hurley is a versatile performer whose work spans opera, concert and chamber music.
Recent operatic engagements include Victorian Opera’s The Coronation of Poppea, alongside a long association with Pinchgut Opera, where he has appeared in numerous productions including The Fairy Queen, Dido and Aeneas, Giustino, Orontea and Acis and Galatea. Louis was also the inaugural recipient of The Humanity Foundation Taryn Fiebig Scholarship with Pinchgut Opera. His operatic work encompasses repertoire from the early Baroque through to contemporary works.
On the concert platform, Louis has performed with leading Australian orchestras and ensembles including the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and Sydney Philharmonia Choirs. Internationally, he has appeared as a soloist at Wigmore Hall and with the London Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican.
As a chamber musician, Louis regularly performs with ensembles and in recital at festivals and concert series around Australia, including regular appearances with The Song Company, Australian Vocal Ensemble (AVÉ) and Cantillation.
Louis studied at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts before completing a Master of Music at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, where he was a Hazell Scholar.
